Summer Programs: Meet Our 2016 Summer Staff

We are so excited to begin our summer sessions with our experienced and well-educated Summer Program Staff. During their training at our National Office, they participated in various sessions which taught them techniques on dealing with homesickness, money management skills, and transition support. We also participated in an “improv” class which taught us charismatic communication. Don’t forget to Like us on Facebook to follow our adventures and read more about our summer activities during this year’s Summer Programs.

MattMatthew Kosiorek, Director of Summer Programs

Matthew graduated from Westfield State University in 2007 and continued his education with a Certificate in Asperger’s Studies from Elms College.

Matthew joined the CIP family in 2010 working in Site Development directly under CIP’s founder, Dr. Michael McManmon. In the spring of 2013 Matthew began coordinating the Summer Programs. He enjoys all kinds of sports including everything from soccer and softball to surfing and snowboarding and other outdoor adventures.

I am extremely passionate about providing a GREAT summer experience to individuals with learning differences and autism, because everyone was made for good purpose and is inherently valuable.

JenelJenel Meier, CIP Amherst Summer Program Coordinator

Jenel has a BA in Human Services and Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling. She has been working in the field of Special Education for 10 years in elementary school, residential treatment centers, career and tech ed training, and high school special education. Jenel has been a staff member at CIP for almost 3 years. In her spare time, she enjoys reading in her hammock, trying new restaurants, and almost anything outdoors.

During the Summer Program, I am looking forward to seeing the students grow and learn from each other over the 2 weeks.

SamSamantha Byrnes, CIP Berkshire Summer Program Coordinator

Samantha has been a special education teacher for the past three years, both in public and private schools. She attended Bay Path University to obtain a Master’s in special education with a focus on Autism. Currently, she is attending Florida Institute of Technology to obtain a Board Certified Behavior Analyst credential.  In her spare time, she enjoys hiking with her pup all around the Berkshire trails. She has recently joined a soccer and softball league. She also loves reading outside in the summer with a great cup of coffee.

There are a lot of exciting things happening during the Summer Program. I am thrilled to meet a new group of students, each who will bring their own experiences and stories. I am most excited for the students to create new and lasting relationships with one another.

LauraLaura Moore, CIP Bloomington Summer Program Coordinator

Laura attended college at the University of Southern Mississippi where she studied History. She works in a Community Based Special Education Classroom working with children grades K-2 with autism and other learning differences. In her spare time, Laura loves to spend time with her husband and 3 kids. She also loves to read and hang out with friends.

The thing I am most looking forward to this summer is getting to meet some amazing young people who are excited to step away from their comfort zones and experience something new. I think we are going to have an amazing summer at CIP!
