A lesson in Multiculturalism class was “Foods from Around the World.” In addition to studying the attitudes and traditions surrounding food in different cultures, students were able to sample foods from several different countries. Students prepared dishes such as Irish stew, Japanese curry and traditional Jewish dishes such as Latkes and Mandel bread. Students were able to sample cheeses from Ireland, London and Australia, naan bread from India, croissants from France and pita chips with hummus from Greece. The potluck also featured several Spanish inspired dishes such as empanadas, guacamole and Horchata and even an Arizona specialty-prickly pear jam! The students enjoyed trying different foods along with showing off their cooking skills.
