LDI Welcomes IECA Educational Consultants

IECA , the Independent Educational Consultants Association, holds a national conference two times a year, once in the fall and then in the spring.  This year’s fall conference was held last week in Scottsdale, AZ at the Westin.  The event brings together schools, programs, educational consultants, and other similar professionals.  As such, IECA offers opportunities to network, to learn through workshops and round-table discussions, and to discover available resources and programs.

IECA also provides incredible opportunity for LDI to cover program aspects, to interact with educational consultants, and to continue to build new relationships with persons in education.  Through this forum, LDI is able to identify how our 2-year post-secondary residential program along with our day high school and summer Emerging Leaders Academy serves students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other learning disabilities.

During the conference, LDI’s Veronica Crawford and clinical neuropsychologist Jason Baker presented a workshop entitled Best Practices in Using Diagnostic Testing to Create and Implement Effective Accommodation Plans in Postsecondary, Higher Education, and Workplace Settings.  This workshop focused upon how working together in professional collaboration can create more accurate diagnostic connections between brain functioning and aids to determine appropriate accommodations.  These techniques and strategies enable clients equal access and a level playing field of opportunities, which can result in success and increased quality of life.

Being in Scottsdale brought great opportunity to LDI, as we hosted numerous tours for educational consultants during IECA.  Additionally, LDI worked with other programs to host a reception at the Westin, host a dinner at Buffalo Chip Saloon in Cave Creek, and joined with other schools and programs during IECA’s School and College Fair.

Thank you to everyone who visited and shared your time with LDI.
