CIP Expands Summer Offerings for 2016, Adds New Job Readiness Program

The College Internship Program (CIP) has announced it will offer two unique summer program options for 2016 at six different locations across the US.

For high school graduates up to age 26.


Mploy – Job Readiness Program

Mploy is designed for young adults with ASD and LD ages 18 to 26 who are interested in entering the workforce and transitioning to independent living.

  • Meetings with industry employers
  • Develop more self-confidence and build social connections
  • Learn about core skills and abilities needed for success in the workplace and independent living
  • Gain insight into a range of industries and workplace settings

During the two-week program, participants develop employment readiness skills, learn self-advocacy, develop friendships and take part in activities designed to help them prepare for their future.

The inaugural Mploy program took place in Long Beach in January of 2015 and will now be available across the United States for summer 2016. The program centered around developing employment skills and visiting with representatives from businesses and organizations such as Sony, Disney, and Power 106 Radio Station.

Participants will prepare “portfolios” and leave with many employment focused “take aways” such as resumes, LinkedIn profiles, etc.

Mploy housing will be held on college campuses and student will learn about academics in context to employment. CIP’s Autism and Learning Differences Toolkit, published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers in October of 2015 will be also be utilized in the two-week program.

Summer@CIP

Young Adults with Asperger’s, ADHD and Learning Differences learn valuable skills to make a successful transition to college and beyond during CIP’s Summer Programs. Summer@CIP is for participants entering the 10th, 11th and 12th grades in the Fall, as well as recent high school graduates.

  • Spend two weeks on a college or university campus learning valuable skills and gaining experience
  • Engage in fun and exciting activities
  • Experience independent living
  • Build confidence and make friends
  • Earn 1 College Credit for CSD-100: Introduction to the College Experience

Throughout our two-week session several fun and exciting activities are planned. Students will spend time outdoors this summer, as well as getting some down time to relax and work on their social skills.

Participants will be introduced to Theme-Based Curriculum, connecting daily themes to a variety of activities and settings, utilizing a combination of teaching methods in the process. Students will also be taught important independent living skills such as cooking and healthy food choices, time management and organization, laundry and cleaning instruction.
