CIP Bloomington at Wildcare

The following is a special needs program update from Asperger’s & LD College Programs. You may also click here to read the original article on the main program website.

CIP Bloomington is doing a Service Learning Project at Wildcare Inc. for the summer session. Wildcare is a non-profit organization providing professional care to sick, injured and orphaned wildlife in Indiana. CIP students are volunteering to grow a “three sisters” garden (corn, beans and squash) for the animals.

Last week at Wildcare, students learned how to use the tiller and prepare the soil for planting. After viewing a presentaion on the safe use of the tiller, they took verbal directions from staff. Each student maintained their attention for approximately 10 minutes, used the machine safely and had a great time. This week, we will be planting seeds.
