Here is an excerpt:

Erik Rowe, 22, was a student at Chapel Haven West. Rowe currently lives independently, works and volunteers.

“I am working at Yadda Yadda Telecom where I clean and refurbish old telephones,” said Rowe.

Rowe said he began working with Chapel Haven West while attending the University of Arizona. He majored in Natural Resources with an emphasis in Conservation Biology.

He said the classes he took at Chapel Haven West helped him quickly become independent.

“I have had classes about social skills and learning how to navigate around the community, like using bus routes,” he said.

Rowe said he also volunteers on Sundays at the Tucson Wildlife Center. He said it is a step toward his dream of professionally working with animals.

“Maybe working at a national park, surveying wildlife,” he said. “Or a zookeeper.”

We are so proud of our program!
