Career Preparation & Readiness: Mploy 2016 Wrap Up

Mploy-logo-boxWhat an amazing way to start the year of 2016. Long Beach had the honor of hosting the inaugural MPLOY program and it was a huge success! The planning of the event was truly a collaboration of many dedicated individuals from across CIP and the community. The students who participated in this program worked extremely hard at accomplishing career readiness goals. They completed career assessments, LinkedIn profiles, resumes, cover letters, and a complete portfolio of resources to prepare them for the working world. They also learned strategies on interviewing, received help with dress and attire for a variety of industries, as well as given resources for the different avenues to search for a job or internship.

Although career readiness was the focus, these students certainly didn’t miss out on having fun. They toured and visited with employers from radio broadcast centers, television and film studios, amusement parks, county parks and recreation, tourism, and even got a chance to visit the Angels Stadium! Of course one of the most impressive points to this program in Long Beach was the opportunity to stay ten days on one of the most interesting hotels in the country, the Queen Mary. They enjoyed harbor cruises, bowling, movies, and one of the “coolest” events in town at the time, THE CHILL on the Queen Mary.
