Autism Awareness Month: CIP Long Beach

The following is a special needs program update from Asperger’s & LD College Programs. You may also click here to read the original article on the main program website.

LIUBFor the month of April, College Internship Program of Long Beach celebrated Light It Up Blue to promote World Autism Awareness Day. A group of students volunteered to decorate the classrooms and lounge areas to show our support for all those affected by Autism. The students who participated were Alex, Mary, Tess, Billy, Anthony, and Paul. They created posters, banners, and flyers to help inspire their fellow students. The students all agreed that although this community service event was just done at our center, they felt that they were able to use their creative abilities to help make others aware of Autism.

ChalkOn Saturday, April 18th, College Internship Program students from the Long Beach Center volunteered at the annual Chalk Art Festival by Autism Highway.  At this event, the students assisted in passing out event programs and flyers, setting up decorations, and helping with refreshments. The students, Claire, Michael, Jared, and Anthony enjoyed speaking with different individuals and answering questions for attendees.  Autism Highway enjoyed having us for a second year and cannot wait to have us volunteer again next year.
