Our program is designed to meet each student’s individualized goals. We offer services in the following areas:

Academic

Our staff meets with the student and family to develop an academic plan.  We assist the student with the admissions process to enroll in the program/college chosen.  Our services include individualized tutoring, advocacy, and ensuring that all proper accommodations are being met.

Career

Sessions are individualized with our Career Development Coordinator.  We review the student’s interests and abilities and create goals to meet the student’s desired career path.  Afterwards, sessions include resume building, interview preparation, and job coaching.  The Career Development Coordinator also assists students in finding part-time jobs, internships, and volunteer work in order to expand their resume and build experience.

Independent Living Skills

We work with students individually in their apartments and around the community so that they can lead healthy, organized, and independent lives. Sessions include but are not limited to exercise, healthy eating, managing a clean environment, safety and security, and transportation.  Admission to our program includes membership to a local athletic club.

Finance Management

Students and parents plan a realistic monthly budget.  The student is taught skills in order to live within their budget.  This includes tracking expenses, paying bills, avoiding scams, and developing good credit.  Each student meets with a finance manager at least once a week in order to review their budget and ensure that they are following the guidelines set forth.

Social Skills

Students meet individually with the staff psychologist on a weekly basis and also attend support group sessions.  The psychologist is available for additional support as needed.

Social Activities

There are a large variety of social activities available to the students, and all students are encouraged to attend.  Each month, the residential adviser and other staff members, in conjunction with the students, will plan out activities in accordance with their interests and budget.  We extend activities to meet special interests of the students.  Both our Evanston location and the city of Chicago offer opportunities to explore different cultures, interests, and activities.
