Chapel Haven is a nationally accredited non-profit school and post secondary program with a stellar track record of teaching adults with disabilities how to live independent and productive lives.

Founded in 1972 in a house on Chapel Street in New Haven, CT, Chapel Haven has grown to serve 250 adults at two campuses, in New Haven and Tucson, AZ.

Families can choose among three core programs, each of which provides a comprehensive continuum of special education, residential, vocational, college and life skills programming to adults 18 years and older with disabilities.

The REACH program in New Haven, CT serves adults with mild intellectual disabilities, Down Syndrome and autism. Students live with 24-hour staff oversight apartment-style on our campus, enjoying a 24-month curriculum centered on functional academics, life skills practice each evening with life skills staff, a vibrant social/rec schedule and vocational training.

The Asperger Syndrome Adult Transition program (ASAT) in New Haven, CT is a 24-month residential program designed by a panel of national experts to serve adults in four domains of social communicative competence, self determination, life skills and supports for college and vocational success.

Our third core residential program,  Chapel Haven West in Tucson, AZ, serves those on the autism spectrum and those with related social communication deficits, enabling them to live independent and productive lives. Social communication is at the heart of the two-year residential program along with life skills, self determination, vocational readiness and college. A special feature enrolls all our students in college-credit earning classes in social communication at the University of Arizona, five blocks from our campus.
