BHMA offers three programs for ages 18 and over:

Two Year Certificate Program – Using the Life-Centered Education Program, we specialize in teaching core competencies in the following areas: basic work skills, adult daily living skills, social skills, travel training, music lessons and music ensembles. All is taught in a music-infused learning environment. Music is used to teach non-music goals.

LIVE Program (Long-term Independent Vocational Experience) – This program bridges the gap between work skills and vocation, and is for students that have completed the Two Year Certificate Program. The LIVE Program works with its members to find employment in the community and continues to support adult daily living skills. Members typically transition to supported apartment living either on or off campus in this phase of the program. LIVE Members can stay at BHMA for just a few more years or indefinitely.

Performance Troupe – The Troupe is a community of BHMA students who play in a band on campus and all over New England. Music is their vocation and all Troupe Members have auditioned to become members of this group. To be a member of the Performance Troupe, students must possess high musicality, appropriate social skills, community safety skills and the ability to rehearse and perform in a group setting for a minimum of 30 hours each week. Many of the band members live off campus in supportive housing.

Summer programs for ages 16 to 25 are available. Sessions are either two weeks or four weeks. Broadway and Rock ‘n’ Roll are studied.

BHMA has been honored for our work through the Department of Developmental Disabilities, Best Buddies, and was listed in the Woodbury Reports as one of the top 100 programs in the United States.
